Well, we’re all thrilled with the functionality of cloud computing as we could not live without our Gmail, iCloud iTunes library, mobile apps etc. however there is a cost that most users are unaware: Consider that Facebook’s data centers were responsible for making 298,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide in 2013. This of course is in addition to the heat generated and the energy required to not only run the data centers but to keep them cooled.
