We have witnessed the emergence of widespread censorship by Internet tech companies and the media. As examples, Amazon censored Dr. Seuss children’s books and de-platformed Parler for supporting conservative views, Twitter and Facebook censored and de-platformed the New York Post, the longest running newspaper in the US founded by Benjamin Franklin for reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop 3 weeks prior to the 2020 US Election. The contents of the Hunter Biden’s laptop have just recently been confirmed by the New York Times (that also censored and disputed the laptop on 2020) and the contents revealed many illegalities and wrongdoings. Of concern is that Social Media’s censorship boards have ties to partisan billionaire George Soros.
During the pandemic there was significant censorship in Social Media disputing the origins of Covid-19, Covid 19 treatments (Ivermectin, Hydroxychloroquine, Vitamins D/C/Zinc) and public health policy (Great Barrington Declaration noting the John’s Hopkin’s study has since concluded these prescriptions/documents were correct -> Ivermectin 44% effective). The NY Times withheld large amounts of Covid data it researched and discovered. Facebook fact-checked/stated the British Medical Journal was wrong when they were in fact correct. Further, Google and other search engines manipulated search results to prevent access to certain documents. Some examples of Google Search manipulation was the removal early in pandemic of the many unknowns of mRNA vaccines posted on the US Govt’s NIH.gov.
As a last example we are also seeing information changed or stricken from the Internet. As examples, Wikipedia’s entry on the History of the Internet cites the U.S. vs. Microsoft case but has now removed the finding that Microsoft was found guilty of antitrust violations and predatory behavior. Wikipedia has stricken the entry on Hunter Biden’s Rosemont Seneca that funded the US-Ukrainian BioLabs (some working on Covid gain of Function and the Internet Archive has also had this information removed). Specific to the recent pandemic, Wikipedia has changed and stricken facts about Dr. Robert Malone who jointly holds the 1st 8 patents for mRNA based treatments/vaccines.
As background, I became aware of the Search Engine/Social Media’ manipulation with the following 2011 Ted Talks but what doesn’t make sense is that the clarity of the video has decreased. I ask, why would Google decrease the resolution of the following Ted Talks video:
Interestingly, the Ted Talks above has had its URL changed several times and the resolution has decreased over time when my other embedded YouTube Ted Talks and lecture recordings have never experienced this. I have no answer as to why this is occurring but it is understood changing a URL and decreasing resolution negatively affects embedding, appeal and viewership.
A few additional notes on the above introductory video. In the video you saw Facebook posts would disappear based on content. Evaluation of content is not standard run of the mill algorithm analysis as it requires semantic taxonomic understanding and reveals a significant AI/ML component. Now let’s recognize that computing power and AI/ML understanding and algorithms have all evolved significantly since this 2011 Ted Talks. You also heard him state “signals”. Signals have also evolved far beyond the basic platform and location data points presented in this video and now contain behavioral components as revealed in the LM9 predictive analytics page. Also note below the Oct 2020 US Senate hearings revealed (Zuckerberg) Facebook, Google and Twitter share an internally developed app to collaborate with their surveillance, censorship and information presentation (video below).
